The second annual Maximum Ames Music Festival was a huge success because of the overwhelming enthusiasm and support of this great community. We hosted over 130 bands over four days in twenty different venues all over town. Music ranged from folk to punk, from pop to bluegrass, from jazz to metal, from rock to country and everything in between. And the massive schedule of events ran smoothly thanks to the committed and talented group of volunteers who operated the event.
The festival’s audience nearly doubled from last year. We were honoured to host major headlining acts in some of Ames’ finest facilities, including Ames City Auditorium and Bandshell Park. It was such a thrill to bring internationally renowned artists like Wanda Jackson, Jeff Mangum, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and more right here to our beloved home of Ames! And we loved working with the hundreds of local and regional musicians who played the festival and who make this scene happen every day.
We are so grateful to the businesses and nonprofits that sponsor Maximum Ames Music Festival and to the Ames Visitors and Conventions Bureau for providing us with a grant. We are excited to continue to collaborate with, and be a faithful partner to, Ames’ business community for years to come.
And we are especially grateful to the thousands of local residents and the hundreds of out-of-town visitors who make MAMF possible by coming out partake of the festival and celebrate the culture of our community. Maximum Ames is proud to be a part of this state’s brilliant and thriving arts community.
