It’s officially been (a little over) two weeks since the close of #MAMF6!
What started as a mere idea among musicians and friends has amounted to a four-day festival in historical downtown Ames. This is the sixth year that Maximum Ames has put on the festival, and yet, the amount of love and support we continue to receive is unwavering.
It’s exciting – and inspiring! – to see months of planning and hard work come to fruition, but this festival is not the work of Maximum Ames alone; it is the culmination of all of our sponsors, musicians and fans who have put in hours of their time preparing and promoting. For that, we would like to thank each and every one of you–whether you shared a post, told a friend, or attended a show–THANK YOU.
Please, take a bow and give yourself a pat on the back.
Our very talented official photographer, Derek Siedelmann, was able to capture some of the best moments of the festival:
Watch The Ames Tribune video footage of The Depaysement performance.
Read Joe Lawler’s review of Lavender Country’s performance.
Read Michael Heckle’s review of Baby Dee’s performance.
Watch The Ames Tribune video footage of Dan DeGeese’s performance.
More photos and videos are available on our Facebook page.
Although the festival is over, Maximum Ames is still hard at work!
Co-founder and kick-ass musician, Christopher Ford (Christopher the Conquered) is out promoting “I’m Giving Up on Rock n’ Roll” all over the world. On top of that, he recently announced he would be undertaking a new project: 100 Songs Project, in which he will be writing, recording and publishing 100 songs over the course of the next year. A number of his songs are already available online via Soundcloud. Having played a number of shows in Colorado already, CT Conquered will be playing a number of Iowa shows to round out the year. See a list of remaining dates here.
Gloom Balloon played a song in the outfield of Principal Park in the latest edition of Juice Side Sessions. Watch Patrick perform Gloom Balloon’s upcoming single, “Don’t Fall In Love,” while sporting some serious eye black here. You can also catch Gloom Balloon on October 16 at the Des Moines Social Club as part of the Second Annual FEMIfest alongside other MAMF performers (Lesbian Poetry, Glitter Density, Karen Meat)!
TWINS announced they would be writing and recording new music (!), but in the meantime, rock out to their old tunes here.
During the festival, Mumford’s announced they would be recording a live album during their set. Very soon it will be available exclusively online for streaming, so be sure to keep close eye out for it!
If you’re itching for some new tunes or missing your favorite MAMF performances, not to worry! The Ames Vinyl Café has your fix. Both Maximum Ames and Nova Labs records are available for sale, many of which you can snag for $10 or less.
We already have a number of releases and collaborations planned for early next year (Nova Labs’ Uncertainty Festival!), and of course, #MAMF7 is in the works!
